Greeks

The Greeks believed in 12 Olympians, or Gods and Goddesses, that are all gods or goddesses of different elements and emotions.  They also had philosophers that were very smart. They were Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle they all had very intelligent theories that they are famous for.  The Greeks had their own there own alphabet and it changed throughout time and eventually we used them for our letters.  So if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be able to right this right now because I wouldn’t have an alphabet.  They were very athletic and had created the Olympic Games which still go on in this time.  If it wasn’t for the Greek we would not have too much going on today because they were so smart. They were very advanced for there time period.  The Greeks did a lot of very finely crafted sculptures and other wonderful pieces of art.  I feel like all the artists of today have Greek decent in them because I feel as if the Greeks were the exponentially great at works of art.  They also did a lot of writing back then because of the lack of televisions.  They told stories and read stories that they have heard or they knew.  One man who was a very good story teller was Homer. He was a blind poet that had told of this amazing individual in books called the Iliad and the Odyssey.  They had these extravagant buildings still standing today called the Parthenon.  That is the Greeks for ya.

creation and fall

In this story it is told how the Earth was created.  It explains how after eve ate the apple she made a huge mistake.  The two of them ate the apple and God had a list of consequences for them.  First was that woman would be in a lot of pain when birthing a child, and man would have to work for the rest of his life to provide for his family.  The two really bad consequences were that people would eventually die and they could never go back to the Garden of Eden. It was because the serpent, or Satan, told eve to eat the apple.

psalm 23

This is explaining how the lord is people’s shepherd.  It explains how the lord leads people on the right direction to righteousness.  He shows them the path to take to live a clean and healthy life that is full of gods love and love for god.  “He restores my soul,” is what they claim in the Bible which is like saying he led them in the right direction.

adoration of the disk

In this story Im guessing that they how they admire the "disk" which is the sun.  Its saying how thankful the people are because the sun has created everything.  They beleive the sun is in control of what happens around their time.  It explains how they thought that the sun made people and can say when they die.  It is describing what the sun has done and created.  They find everything that the sun has created to be beautiful and magestic.

psalm 104

in this it shows some of the psalm 104.  it tells how kind the lard is to all the living creatures on the earth he created.  im not sure what the whole point behind this psalm is but it is in the Bible and my teacher told me to read it and write something about it.

the book of the dead

this is the book of the dead. scientists have taken a long time to decifer what it said and they finally got it.  im not sure what the book is about other than them being dead.  i havent read the book but i guess it has something to do with where people go when they die.  accourding to the egyptians of course. in this picture there are some gods and they are weighing out the good and the bad things that the people have done to decide whether or not to send them to hell or heaven.

parable of the prodigal son

here it shows how the son was welcomed back by his father, it is like he was kidnapped and it is the first time they've seen each other.  when at the beginning of the story the youngest son ask for his inheritance so he could go off and live a fun life.  he didnt exect to blow all his money at once which is what he did. now he is a slave and wants to go ask his dad if he can work for him as a slave.  his father throws him a party and the other son is mad because he does all the work and doesnt ask for anything because he doenst believe it.  its like the youngest son was lost and now is back and knows who he is.
